March is Arizona Archaeology & Heritage Awareness Month

There are many great events coming up in March for the Arizona Archaeology and Heritage awareness month! Check out the list of events on the Arizona State Parks website: http://azstateparks.com/SHPO/index.html Scroll down to ‘Explore Historic Preservation’ for a listing of events.

The official Centennial event is at the Arizona State Capitol grounds on Saturday, March 3rd from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The address is 1700 W. Washington in Phoenix. This expo provides a special opportunity for visitors to learn more about why it is important to preserve archaeological sites and historic places, what archaeologists, historians and tribal members do in their jobs, and about the prehistory and history of Arizona.

I will be at this event with the Agua Fria chapter of the Arizona Archaeological Society! Stop by and say hi!
